AI Builder

Describe what you want to build in your own words. The AI plans the project, you review the plan, and only then does it build.

Before you start

  • You need a free account. The AI Builder is included on every plan.
  • It works on a laptop or desktop, in the editor at app.arduinostudio.com.
  • You can also type your idea in the box on the home page or pick one from project ideas. After you sign in, the editor opens with your idea already filled in.

Start a new project

  1. Create a new project. An empty project opens on Describe your project.
  2. Type what it should do, for example “a button that toggles a red LED, with a slider for brightness”, or tap one of the example ideas under the box to fill it in. Tapping only fills the box; nothing is sent until you press the button.
  3. Read the plan. Review this plan lists the new logic blocks with their settings, changes to existing blocks, new controls for the App stage, and what happens after applying. Nothing changes until you apply.
  4. Click Apply changes, or Cancel to leave the project as it was.

After applying, the blocks are on the canvas, any controls are in stage 3 App, and the wiring diagram in stage 2 Wiring follows from the new blocks. A project built from scratch can also get a name and a README describing it.

Change an existing project

Click AI Builder in the editor toolbar to open it beside your project, then ask for a change: “make the LED dimmer”, “add a buzzer that beeps when the button is pressed”. You review every change the same way before it’s applied.

Good to know

  • It builds with the same blocks you can add yourself, so the result has the same limits. Check the components page for where each block runs.
  • You can send up to 6 requests a minute.
  • Requests that contain an email address, phone number, password or other private details are refused. Describe the project, not the people.
  • It can get things wrong. That’s what the review step is for, and every block stays editable afterwards.

Next steps

  • Press Play to run the project in the simulator, or connect a board: Getting Started.
  • Read the Arduino code the AI’s blocks make in Dev mode.
  • Build the circuit with the Wiring view.
